1 to 2 pandits · About 1½ hours · Rinmukteshwar Mahadev Mandir, Ujjain

About this puja
Rin Mukti is an observance taken up by those carrying debts and obligations, made with a sankalp, a daan placed on the mandal, and a havan. Yellow is the colour of the rite: yellow flowers and chana dal are offered through it.
Rinmukteshwar Mahadev in Ujjain is the temple associated with it. The tradition told at the temple is that King Harishchandra performed the rite here when he was in debt, which is where the name comes from.
It is not tied to a tithi and can be arranged on most days, which makes it one of the easier rites to fit into a short visit.

Questions people ask
- What daan should we bring?
- It is the devotee’s choice, and the pandit will advise on what is customary if you ask him on the day. Nothing is required of you by us.
- How soon can it be arranged?
- Usually within a few days, since it is not tied to a tithi. Shravan and Mondays are the exception and need more notice.
- Do we need our birth details?
- Not for this rite. Your name and gotra is enough for the sankalp.
- Can it be done the same day as another puja?
- Often, yes. It runs about an hour and a half. Tell us everything you want to arrange and we will lay the day out before you book.
