Terms & Conditions
What we are promising when you book with us, what we are not, and what happens if something has to change.
Updated
These terms cover the pujas, stays, darshan days, cabs and packages UjjainSeva arranges. They take effect when you confirm a booking with us on WhatsApp, and they sit alongside whatever we have put in writing for your particular booking. Where the two differ, what we wrote to you about your booking wins.
What we are
We are an arranger. We book rooms at hotels we do not own, cars driven by licensed drivers we work with, and rites performed by pandits who are not our employees. We are not a temple trust, we have no official standing with the Mahakaleshwar temple committee or any other, and we cannot grant or guarantee access to any temple.
Prices, and what moves them
- Every price on this site is a starting price. The price for your dates is the one we confirm to you in writing, and that is the one that holds.
- Cab fares are for the whole vehicle, not per person, and include the driver, fuel, tolls, parking and state taxes unless we say otherwise.
- Room rates are for the whole room for one night, not per person.
- Festival dates, Shravan Mondays, Mahashivratri and the Simhastha period are quoted separately and on their own terms, which we state before anything is held.
- GST is charged where it applies and is shown on top of the quoted price rather than hidden inside it.
Paying
Nothing is taken on this site. For most bookings you pay the hotel at check-in or the driver at the end of the journey. Where a date needs an advance to hold a room or a car, we tell you so before you commit, and we tell you what the advance is for.
Changing or cancelling
- Rooms: free to cancel up to 48 hours before check-in on ordinary dates. Festival dates carry their own terms, stated in writing when we quote them.
- Cabs: tell us the day before and there is nothing to pay. A car that has already set out for you is a different matter, and we will talk to you about it rather than apply a rule.
- Pujas: the date is often set from a chart and the samagri is bought ahead, so once a date is fixed with the pandit a cancellation may not be refundable in full. We will tell you where you stand before you confirm.
- If we have to change something — a hotel that oversells, a car that breaks down — we arrange the nearest equivalent at no extra cost to you, and if we cannot, we refund the part that did not happen.
Temples, timings and access
Temples set their own darshan and aarti hours, their own dress rules and their own fees, and they change them, sometimes at a day’s notice. Nothing on this site states a temple timing as a guarantee for that reason. The Bhasma Aarti in particular has limited entry controlled entirely by the temple: we ask for it as early as we can and we tell you plainly if it cannot be had. A refused or rescheduled darshan is not something we can be held to, though we will always rearrange the rest of your day around it.
What is expected of you
- Give us accurate names, dates and phone numbers. A wrong name on an ID at check-in is the most common reason a confirmed room is refused.
- Carry a government photo ID for every adult. A PAN card is not accepted as ID.
- Respect the customs of the temples you visit, including dress and the removal of leather and footwear where it is asked for.
- You are responsible for your own belongings, and for your own travel insurance if you want it.
The limits of what we can answer for
We are answerable for arranging what we said we would arrange, and for putting it right when we get it wrong. We are not answerable for things outside anyone’s control: weather, road closures, traffic, strikes, crowd restrictions, a temple changing its hours, illness, or a train or flight running late. Where any liability is found, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the part of the booking that failed.
Photographs on this site
No photograph on these pages is presented as a picture of a named hotel. The room photographs show the standard of room; the photograph on each hotel card is of the part of Ujjain that hotel stands in, and its caption says so. Open-licence images are credited in the site’s credits.
Disputes
Tell us first, on WhatsApp, and we will try to settle it between us — that is how nearly everything gets resolved. These terms are governed by Indian law, and the courts at Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh have jurisdiction.
