About this journey

Mandu is a day of a quite different kind: a fifteenth-century hill city of palaces, gateways and tanks spread over a plateau, with the Jahaz Mahal at its centre and Rupmati’s pavilion at the far end looking down over the Nimar plain.

The monuments are kilometres apart, so a car for the day is not a luxury there, it is the only sensible way to see more than two of them.

How the day goes

  1. Picked up at about half past five in the morning.

  2. Mandu by about ten.

  3. The royal enclave, Jahaz Mahal and Hindola Mahal.

  4. Lunch, then the Jami Masjid and Rupmati’s pavilion for the view.

  5. Back in Ujjain by about nine.

Times are the usual shape of the day, not a timetable. The driver works to you.

Questions people ask

Is there an entry fee?
The monuments charge their own entry, which is not included in the fare and is paid at the gate.
Can we do Maheshwar on the same day?
Not comfortably. They are in the same direction but each deserves its own day.
When do we pay?
At the end of the journey, to the driver. Nothing is taken on this site and there is no account to create.
What if we cancel?
Tell us the day before and there is nothing to pay. A car that has already set out for you is a different matter, and we would talk to you about it rather than apply a rule.

Fares are for the whole car and are confirmed with you in writing before the car is sent. Distances and driving times are approximate and change with the road, the traffic and the season. Darshan and aarti timings at any temple on this route are set by that temple, not by UjjainSeva, and entry is never guaranteed.
